United States: 24 top ladies’ trip destinations

Check out these 24 best US locations for ladies’ trips and discover ideas for what to do and where to stay.

1. Asheville, North Carolina

Closest airport: Asheville Regional Airport (AVL)

Recommended by: Janice Moskoff of Gatherandgotravel.com

Best times to visit:

Asheville is one of those wonderful destinations that is visitable nearly 12 months of the year. However, the area truly shines in late spring and October, when you can see the autumn color change across rolling Blue Ridge mountain vistas, and the weather is the driest.

Group of six ladies sitting on rocks at Bearwallow Falls on the Wildcat Rock Trail near Gerton, NC.
A group of friends hiking the Wildcat Rock trail near Asheville, North Carolina.

What to do & where to stay:

If your friend group loves the outdoors, great food, good brews, and art—Asheville, North Carolina, with its temperate climate, varied lodging options, and close airport, delivers a nearly perfect year-round destination for ladies’ group getaway.

Depending on your group, stay in one of three places—in the heart of downtown at a hotel like the AC Hotel with its swanky rooftop eatery and walkable to restaurants and shopping. Or at one of the hotels on the Biltmore Estate, like its Village Hotel, which gives you complimentary access to explore its grounds. Or finally, outside of town in surrounding communities like Fairview—where we stayed, where you can rent a sprawling mountain home for less, giving your gal pals a break on their budget and room to spread out.

For things to do in Asheville, the list is nearly endless. Visit the Biltmore, join an e-bike tour of the town, explore the River Arts District, or go hiking. Our group loved walking the Wildcat Rock Trail and in the DuPont State Recreational Forest—the High Falls and Triple Falls Trail. Or, if you want to do something organized, you can even book a combo yoga and hiking experience!

When it comes to dining, keep things relaxed and delicious by getting tacos and eating them riverside at the White Duck Taco Shop. Or you can put your name in for an in-demand table and Indian street food at Chai Pani. Our group also loved brunches ordered at the counter at Green Sage Cafe, Biscuit Head, and Liberty House Cafe, followed by a group relaxation salt cave experience at down-the-street Asheville Salt Cave.

2. Austin, Texas

Recommended by: Audra Morris of TheNerdTraveler.com

Closest airport(s): Austin-Bergstrom International (AUS)

Best times to visit:

Springtime in Austin is unforgettable! With the wildflowers blooming, the warm temperatures, plus the SXSW Music & Film Festival—making March and April are the best times to visit.

What to do & where to stay:

When not doing solo road trips, I live in Austin and gladly recommend the city as the perfect destination for a ladies’ trip. Our ever-expanding Austin airport has direct flights from many airports, making gathering from multiple starting points very convenient. The “Live Music Capital of the World” has warm weather starting in March and continuing until mid-November. The summer months can be uncomfortable, with high temperatures exceeding 90F daily.

For activities, one block south of downtown, I recommend the Hike-and-Bike Trail along Lady Bird Lake, which offers five miles of walking paths, 10 if you do the whole loop. Along it, find places to rent bikes, kayaks, and stand-up paddle boards. Near the trail, South Congress Avenue has a wide variety of shopping, dining, and live music options—including The Continental Club.

Staying at the Hotel San Jose or South Congress Hotel will put you very close to all of the activities as well as within walking distance to Guero’s Taco Bar for delicious Tex Mex dishes and occasionally live music, Vespaio Ristorante for amazing Italian food, and Home Slice Pizza for NY style pizza.

3. Carmel-by-the-Sea, California

Recommended by: Janice Lim of WheresJanice.com

Closest airport(s): Monterey Regional Airport (MRY), San Jose Mineta International Airport (SJC)

Best times to visit:

The best time to visit Carmel-by-the-Sea is in the spring and fall when the weather is mild. Avoid visiting in the summer when it can get crowded, or in winter when rain is more frequent.

What to do & where to stay:

Carmel-by-the-Sea is a charming coastal town popular for groups, with amazing dining and natural scenery. There are also many things to do in Carmel-by-the-Sea that are suitable for various budgets and activity preferences, making it perfect for a ladies’ trip.

You can stroll along the stunning Carmel Beach, and then explore the quaint streets filled with art galleries, fairytale cottages, and wine tasting rooms. If your group loves the outdoors, consider going for a scenic drive along the 17-Mile Drive. Point Lobos State Natural Reserve is also a 10-minute drive away and is a great destination for hiking and walking along coastal cliffs.

For accommodations, book a stay at the charming Briarwood Inn, which has multiple cottage options for groups. Most rooms have a fireplace and some are pet-friendly. The landscaped gardens add a touch of exclusivity, along with having off-street parking spaces. If you like French-Italian cuisine, I highly recommend La Bicyclette for its innovative menu and cozy ambiance. For a coffee break, walk down Ocean Avenue and look out for Carmel Valley Coffee Roasting Co.

4. Chicago, Illinois

Recommended by: Janice Moskoff of Gatherandgotravel.com

Closest airport(s): Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW)

Best times to visit:

To truly take advantage of the best of Chicago, visit between June and September when the weather is warm and the outdoor festival and concert season is in full swing. Otherwise, come in late spring or early fall.

What to do & where to stay:

The first time I visited Chicago, I was floored. Driving north along Lake Shore Drive, with the ocean-like expanse of Lake Michigan to the right and a gleaming metropolis on the left, I realized I had no idea how pretty this city was. Then, I decided to move here. Over the years and having lived in different neighborhoods, I have great ideas on how you can best enjoy this town with your gal pals.

For a place to stay, you cannot go wrong booking a hotel on Michigan Avenue nearly anywhere from swanky boutique-laden Oak Street at the Magnificent Mile’s northern end to East Balbo Drive on its south. Or in the River North neighborhood jammed with bars and restaurants. However, my sweet spot is mid-center and right along the Chicago River, like at the upscale LondonHouse for its location, river views, and rooftop bar.

Once settled, explore! Where you go depends on what your group wants to do. However, the must-see highlights, especially for first-time visitors, include taking a Chicago Architectural boat tour, strolling Chicago’s Riverwalk, and then wandering all parts of truly stunning Millenium Park. While there, visit the iconic Cloud Gate sculpture (aka the Bean), catch a free summer concert on the lawn (get picnic supplies), or take its elevated walkway for the views and access to the world-class Art Institute. Looking for something more active? Rent a bike and explore the 18 miles of Chicago’s lakepath to see how the locals enjoy this extraordinary city.

For eats, your biggest challenge will be deciding where to spend your limited meals in this city where culinary excellence is a sport. For the hottest place in town, slip into your best fit and catch a ride to Fulton Market, where the streets overflow with fashion-forward patrons hitting the many bars and restaurants like The Girl and the Goat, the Publican, or nearby Avec.

You can book an architectural boat tour with many different companies. However, the BEST tours are led by the non-profit Chicago Architectural Center. Learn more here

What to do & where to stay:

The historic city of Charleston, South Carolina, is one of the best group travel destinations in North America. It is full of amazing attractions, including historic homes, museums, plantations, and a relaxing waterfront promenade. Charleston is well known for its delicious Southern fare, so you can’t miss the food when visiting here. You need to spend at least 3 days in Charleston to see all that this beautiful city offers.

When in town, explore the historic French Quarter, home to many iconic landmarks, such as St. Phillip’s Episcopal Church, the Doc Street Theater, and the Charleston City Market. Do not miss the Old Slave Mart Museum, a poignant reminder of slave history in the US.

Stroll through the Battery, Charleston’s riverfront promenade, and enjoy a gorgeous sunset. Do not miss the famous Pineapple Fountain on this road. Right across the street is the colorful Rainbow Row of houses—the perfect photo op.

Visit the historic Boone Hall Plantation and Gardens on a day trip from Charleston. Learn about plantation homes and the difficult lives of the enslaved people who worked there.

It is best to stay in downtown Charleston and explore the city from there. The historic French Quarter Inn is a great place to stay. If you love Lowcountry cuisine, 82 Queen and Slightly North of Broad are great places to eat.

6. Kanab, Utah

Recommended by: Janae from AdventuresWithTuckNae.com

Closest airport: St. George Regional Airport (SGU), Cedar City Regional Airport (CDC), or drive Harry Reid International Airport (LAS)

Best times to visit:

What to do & where to stay:

If your group is adventurous, then Kanab might be the perfect location for you to consider! There are so many incredible activities to do near Kanab, including Belly of the Dragon, Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park, and Peekaboo Slot Canyon.

You’ll also be within easy driving distance of both Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks, and there are a wide variety of hikes in the Kanab area. If you’re looking for extra adventurous group activities, rent ATVs at Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park, go canyoneering in Escalante National Monument, or hike the famous Angel’s Landing trail in Zion National Park.

For lodging, consider staying at Canyons Boutique Hotel. Not only is it a unique place to stay, but it also has a free breakfast, so your group will have one less meal to worry about on the trip!

There aren’t a ton of restaurants in the Kanab area, but we enjoyed Escobar’s Mexican restaurant, and the Peekabo Canyon Woodfired Kitchen has vegan and vegetarian options.

7. Las Vegas, Nevada

Recommended by: Mayuri Patel from Fernwehrahee.com

Closest airport: Harry Reid International Airport (LAS)

What to do & where to stay:

Las Vegas is one of the best cities for a ladies’ trip. No doubt, when you hear about Las Vegas, gambling comes to your mind! But there are other amazing things to do in Las Vegas with friends!

Walk down the Las Vegas Strip and marvel at the dazzling lights, elaborate resorts, and atmosphere. Visit famous landmarks like the Bellagio Fountains, The Venetian’s Grand Canal Shoppes, the High Roller observation wheel, or the iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris Vegas! Or spend a day lounging by the pool, soaking up the sun, and sipping cocktails. Your group can also indulge in a luxurious spa experience.

In the evenings, make time for entertainment! Pre-book tickets to watch Cirque du Soleil productions, in-town concerts, or comedy shows. Additionally, make your dinner reservations before you go to try out over-the-top feasts at restaurants like Lotus of Siam and Picasso at Bellagio.

After dinner, indulge in the vibrant nightlife scene, with countless bars, clubs, and lounges. Dance the night away and dance to live music at a trendy nightclub like the Commonwealth in downtown Las Vegas. For places to stay, consider booking in the heart of the action and along the Strip at a hotel like The Mirage or Excalibur Hotel & Casino.

8. Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts

Recommended by: Maria from MVTravelTips.com (Martha’s Vineyard Travel Tips)

Closest airport: Martha’s Vineyard (MVY)

Best times to visit:

June or September are my favorite times to visit. The weather is pleasant and the crowds are slightly smaller than in the peak summer months. Avoid visiting between January and March when it’s cold and very little is open.

What to do & where to stay:

Martha’s Vineyard is a gem for ladies’ trips thanks to a mix of stunning beaches, excellent restaurants, and activities to suit all tastes.

Right across the street is the iconic Edgartown Lighthouse and beach. This is a gorgeous location for group photos. Consider hiring a local photographer to catch the perfect memories of your trip. I’d also recommend taking a private sunset cruise and enjoying some bubbles and local artisanal snacks while you watch the sun go down. Kayaking on Sengekontacket Pond is another adventure perfect for groups of ladies who want to soak in the stunning views of the island. The waters are calm and there’s lots of wildlife to see.

Eat at Alchemy and visit the lively upstairs bar. The food here is superb and the restaurant is renowned for its outstanding cocktails. The Port Hunter is another top venue for groups and they often have live music in the evenings.

What to do & where to stay:

Miami is a fantastic destination for ladies to vacation together. There’s so much to experience, and eat, and a fantastic beach to relax on. Plus, it’s easy to get to, being serviced by two major international airports within 40 minutes of each other.

Miami has something for everyone, whether it’s a lazy day on the beach or the hot nightlife of Internationally renowned clubs, like LIV. Travelers can also visit the iconic Art Deco architecture of South Beach or the murals in Wynwood. Alternatively, head off to see the gators in an airboat on the outskirts of Everglades National Park. Or if your group is into outdoor adventure, consider a snorkel tour jet skiing along the coastline—perfect activities for a Miami trip.

As for food, Miami has it all. Most notably, the Cuban food in the area is authentic. Top Cuban spots on South Beach include Moreno’s, Havana Vieja, and Puerto Sagua. If feeling more adventurous, you can hop over to Calle Ocho or Versailles empanadas.

The Moxy South Beach is a great place for ladies to stay. Located right in the heart of South Beach, this newer, girly hotel is decorated very chic, has a large pool, is just one block from the beach, and has restaurants and bars on the property.

10. Napa Valley, California

Closest airport(s): Sacramento International Airport (SMF), Oakland International Airport (OAK)

Best times to visit:

Napa Valley truly shines from August to October during the grape harvest season, offering vibrant vineyards and perfect weather. I’d suggest steering clear of the winter months when some wineries may close their doors early.

What to do & where to stay:

Napa Valley is a haven for ladies’ trips, blending relaxation, gourmet dining, and scenic beauty into one unforgettable package. It’s surprisingly easy to get around, with options ranging from rental cars for the more adventurous to chauffeured wine tours for those looking to indulge without the worry of navigating. The valley’s climate is blissful, and there’s an endless list of activities tailored to groups looking for a mix of relaxation and exploration.

One must-do activity is a hot air balloon ride at dawn, offering breathtaking views of the rolling vineyards below. Following this, a spa day at one of the many luxury resorts is non-negotiable, with treatments using local grapes. Wine tasting is, of course, the centerpiece of any Napa visit. Opt for a private group tasting at one of the smaller, boutique wineries for a more intimate experience.

For accommodation, The Archer Hotel is a downtown Napa boutique hotel ideal for groups, offering chic, comfortable rooms and easy access to local dining and wineries. Dining in Napa is a treat, with The French Laundry offering an iconic, though splurge-worthy, dining experience. For something more casual yet equally memorable, Oxbow Public Market offers a variety of local eats and wines in an airy, open space, perfect for groups to sample a bit of everything. Lastly, don’t miss a stop at Domaine Carneros for a sparkling wine flight paired with stunning chateau views, making for an unforgettable ladies’ trip in North America.

11. Nashville, Tennessee

Recommended by: Janice Moskoff of Gatherandgotravel.com

Closest airport: Nashville International Airport (BNA)

Visit Nashville in the fall when the weather is the driest and daytime temperatures are often still warm. However, the best alternative times to visit are spring, when you can start getting warm days in April and summer.

Downtown Nashville with the Cumberland River in the foreground.

What to do & where to stay:

Whether you and your friends are music lovers, foodies, honky tonk enthusiasts, or looking for your next ideal group destination—you will find it in Nashville. Book lodging in a central location, downtown or south of Broadway, at a hotel like the Omni Nashville Hotel, where our group stayed. Staying here will give you easy access to major attractions, including the honky-tonks on Broadway and the Country Music Hall of Fame. Or instead, opt for accommodation in Midtown, at a hotel like the Kimpton Aertson, or in the Gulch. Both offer a great alternative if you want to be central with access to more restaurants and shopping.

When in town, wander down Broadway to see which honky tonk offers the music you like best and step inside. Or book a pedal pub tour for fun adult refreshments while taking in the sights and sounds of Nashville’s most famous street on a mini-tour of town. If the timing is right, and you can snag tickets in advance, catch a show at the historic Ryman Auditorium.

Other things to do in Nashville include exploring the boutiques and eateries of the 12 South neighborhood, which our group loved. Or join a tour like the Mural and Mimosas tour to see Nashville’s street art.

For meals, schedule a stop for Nashville hot chicken at a place like counter-service Hattie B’s or for sit-down Southern food at The Loveless Cafe. For brunch, our group loved the huge booths, creative cocktails, and happening vibe, along with delicious food, at Pinewood Social.

What to do & where to stay:

New Orleans is a fantastic destination for a girl’s trip, as the city is so fun and full of culture, there are so many interesting things to see and do, the food is exceptional, and it’s very easy to get around just by walking or taking the streetcar.

When in New Orleans, we love staying in the French Quarter at hotels like the Grenoble House or the Hotel Monteleone. And then, walking around to soak in the beautiful architecture, history, and jazz music that inevitably greets us as we wander the streets. St. Louis Cathedral is a must-visit here, catching a jazz performance at Preservation Hall is a classic activity, and exploring the French Market is a popular way to spend an hour or two.

Another fascinating experience is going on a cemetery tour—we enjoyed learning about New Orleans’s unique, above-ground cemeteries and the intriguing stories of the people who are buried there.

You can also easily pick up one of New Orleans’s famed streetcars and head to the Garden District, where you should spend a couple of hours wandering around and admiring the beautiful old mansions lining the avenues. Two delicious restaurants I’d highly recommend are the Gumbo Shop for some delicious, traditional Creole food, and the Streetcar Cafe, which serves traditional southern and New Orleans fare and has some of the best beignets in New Orleans.

13. New York City, New York

What to do & where to stay:

With a deep diversity of activities, New York City makes for an ideal group destination. The city is easy to access, with many modes of transportation, plenty of things to do, and all kinds of cuisine. With multiple airports, getting into town is convenient for travelers arriving from places near and far.

Top activities for your group include visiting the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island or taking a sunset cruise around Manhattan, enjoying breathtaking skyline views and iconic landmarks. Or join a guided walking tour to explore neighborhoods like Little Italy and Soho. Then, try a food tour to sample under-the-radar specialties and international cuisines.

Where you stay will depend on your group and budget preferences. To reduce transportation time as you explore, you will want to stay in Manhattan, ideally in a central location like the Park Hyatt just south of Central Park in the Midtown area. However, if you want more of a neighborhood feel, go south to Union Square and stay at the W at Union Square. Or head north for space, more reasonable rates, and to feel like a local in the Upper West Side at a place like Hotel Beacon.

While in NYC, you will fall in love with the endless cuisine options—from grabbing a hot dog in Central Park to picking up a pizza slice to stopping for a stacked sandwich at the city’s oldest deli, The Katz’s Deli. And if your group loves French food and feels like a splurge to celebrate a successful trip, make a reservation for the city’s iconic Le Bernardin.

What to do & where to stay:

With several direct flights, a charming and easy-to-navigate and open-air small airport, and tons to do—Palm Springs makes for a warm winter destination favorite for a ladies’ getaway.

A large part of the Palm Springs vacation experience is where you book your lodging. Stay at a mod hotel like the Holiday House or Moroccan-themed Korakia Pensione for an even more relaxed vibe. Or feel luxe with more space for less by pooling your funds and renting a place with a pool and view as our group did at a VRBO.

Then, focus your energy on the many fun options your group can do in and around town. Activities include riding the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway for the views or going on a guided morning hike or a horseback ride. Alternatively, opt for full indulgent relaxation mode at a spa-like Two Bunch Palms in nearby Desert Hot Springs.

If your group likes to shop, set aside time to explore the galleries and boutiques along Palm Canyon Drive. Also, Then for meals, choose from a wealth of relaxed to elegant eateries, several with lovely outdoor seating options. An al fresco brunch at Boozehounds or Farm or a group dinner at Birba make for excellent options.

For groups who love the outdoors, consider making a day trip to nearby Joshua Tree National Park, an hour’s drive to the east. Enter the park at the less congested southern entrance, stopping to pick up picnic food and coffees at TKB Bakery & Deli in Indio en route. Or, if you want your stay to have a more boutique feel, try the nearby Kimpton Hotel Vintage Portland. Alternatively, the Hawthorne area offers quite a few good VRBOs

Portland has no shortage of places to eat and drink. With a group, checking out one of the food truck pods is a must-do! What to do & where to stay:

As someone who spent four years living in sunny San Diego, I genuinely believe it’s one of the best places for a little getaway. Not only is the weather almost always beautiful but also there are all kinds of activities to do that are suitable for groups of all sizes and ages.

For instance, I recommend starting your trip in the La Jolla Cove area, packed with adorable boutique shops, and eateries. Then, in the evening, you can explore the Pacific Beach area, where there’s an incredible nightlife scene. And, if you want an intimate escape, consider day-tripping to the prolific Valle de Guadalupe wine region, which has over 100 top-rated wineries!

In terms of places to eat, one place I love is Parfait Paris. This bakery serves all kinds of French-inspired treats that are not only aesthetic but also delicious! There’s also Morning Glory, which is a crowd-favorite breakfast spot with large portion sizes, ideal for groups. Just make sure to get there early as I know this place is packed on the weekends.

Finally, for a place to stay, I recommend the Margaritaville Hotel San Diego located in the heart of the vibrant Gaslamp Quarter. This 4-star hotel has a laid-back yet playful atmosphere and comes with everything you need for a memorable and comfortable stay!

What to do & where to stay:

Besides the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco offers vibrant neighborhoods, breathtaking views, and a world-class food scene perfect for a ladies’ trip. San Francisco’s charm lies in its diversity. You will find something to love about this city as it is walkable and has a lot of amazing and diverse free things to do. You can explore the eclectic shops and cafes in the Mission District, walk across the Golden Gate Bridge, or relax in the Golden Gate Park.

For accommodations, Hotel Spero is an excellent choice for groups. This hotel’s prime location is near San Francisco’s top attractions. If you want more space to spread out, VRBO has great houses or apartments in areas like Nob Hill or SoMa, near all the main spots to visit.

Eating out in San Francisco is a treat. Brenda’s French Soul Food is a must-try for brunch—their beignets and dishes are super tasty. For a great evening, El Techo in the Mission District has amazing views and Latin American food perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring.

What to do & where to stay:

Puerto Rico is a fantastic destination for a ladies’ trip—it’s got a little bit of everything for everyone in your group. The island is home to gorgeous beaches, lush, emerald-green jungles, amazing nightlife, and historic charm.

The capital city of San Juan makes the perfect base for a Puerto Rico trip. Getting to San Juan from the US East Coast is fairly easy and affordable, and because it’s a US territory, you won’t even need your passport.

One of the best things to do in San Juan is to explore the historic Castillo San Felipe del Morro (aka El Morro), a historic and picturesque fort built by the Spanish in the 16th century. The fort sits right on the water, with plenty of opportunities to snap stunning photos. If you’re more into nightlife, San Juan has a vibrant scene. If you want a more mellow experience, the Cannon Club is a super pretty piano bar and restaurant. Catch a show, grab dinner, and explore the grounds. For a more lively night out, you can’t go wrong with La Factoria!

And if beaches are more your style, Puerto Rico has plenty. You’ll have to leave San Juan for the best ones, but the beaches on the west side of the island are only about a 40-minute drive away.

To be close to everything, plan to stay either in Old San Juan. El Convento is a beautiful hotel centrally located. For more space, this penthouse will put you just steps from the beach.

What to do & where to stay:

One of my favorite places to visit with friends is Savannah, Georgia. With hotels, restaurants, and activities at a variety of price points, it’s a great destination regardless of budget, so we can plan easily for whatever price point the group wants.

For a central location with great views of the Savannah River, a beautiful pool, and proximity to bars and restaurants, the Hyatt Regency Savannah is an excellent mid-range choice. The city’s beautiful architecture, gorgeous southern gardens, amazing restaurants, and fascinating history mean there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

When I travel with people who have never been to Savannah, we do a Hop On-Hop Off Tour of the city to learn its history, take a tour of one or more historic homes, and stroll through Savannah’s historic squares to soak in the ambiance, with a stop at the City Market to sample the Savannah pralines!

The most difficult part of dining in Savannah is deciding where to eat as there are so many great restaurants. Two of the best casual restaurants in Savannah are Zunzi’s at 236 Drayton Street and Six Pence Pub at 245 Bull Street. The atmosphere at Zunzi’s is fun with a barlike atmosphere, indoor-outdoor dining, a great selfie wall, and the most incredible casual food, a fusion of South African and Dutch flavors. I eat at Zunzi’s every time I go to Savannah! Six Pence Pub made famous in the movie “Something to Talk About,” serves authentic British Pub Food in a relaxed atmosphere, with indoor and outdoor dining. It’s a nice place to enjoy a relaxed dinner and drinks after a day of sightseeing. With historic charm, incredible beauty, great food, and vibrant nightlife Savannah offers a truly great getaway for friends.

Hot air balloon ride on a girls’ trip to Scottsdale, Arizona. (Credit: Kim at StuffedSuitcase.com)

What to do & where to stay:

Scottsdale is one of the most popular destinations for girls’ trips as it offers a sunshine escape, plenty of hotel options, great spas, and fabulous restaurants. Brunch and happy hour are especially popular in Scottsdale.

Some of my favorite ways to enjoy a girls’ trip in Scottsdale is to sleep in a bit and then enjoy brunch at one of the many brunch spots like Snooze or Hash Kitchen. For mornings when you’re willing to wake up early, book a hot air balloon ride in the desert.

To recover from your early morning, book a spa treatment at one of the many hotel spas like The Phoenician Spa or Hyatt Regency Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Gainey Ranch. Lastly, Scottsdale offers a wine trail of seven tasting rooms downtown, so enjoy a sip or two at places like Arizona Stronghold or The Wine Collective.

If you’re ready to book your trip, I’d recommend staying at The Phoenician if you’re looking for an expansive resort. Or Hotel Valley Ho if you want to be closer to downtown Scottsdale and Mountain Shadows if you’re looking for more of a boutique experience.

What to do & where to stay:

Seattle, Washington is perfect for a girls’ trip, with just the right balance of vibrant city life and incredible nature. For example, you can spend the morning eating your way through the iconic Pike Place Market, which dates back to the 1900s, followed by an afternoon cruise around Puget Sound—Seattle is one of the best places for whale watching in Washington after all!

Alternatively, explore any of Seattle’s world-class museums, like the Museum of Pop Culture or the Seattle Art Museum, followed by an afternoon kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding on Lake Union.

Grab drinks during sunset at The Nest, a swanky rooftop bar overlooking Elliot Bay and its attractions, like the Seattle Great Wheel, or at Needle & Thread, an intimate speakeasy.

If you don’t mind splashing out, consider making the Four Seasons Hotel Seattle your home base—it has the best rooftop pool in the city! For something slightly more budget-friendly, the Thompson Seattle is within walking distance of some of the city’s most popular attractions and offers stunning views of the water.

23. Sedona, Arizona

Best times to visit:

The best times to visit Sedona are in the spring—when temperatures warm and flowers are in bloom—and in the fall, when the worst summertime heat has ended. However, Sedona is one of those rare destinations you can visit year-round. I have stayed in Sedona in both the summer and winter and can attest it can be lovely this time of year, too.

What to do & where to stay:

Known for its hiking, top-notch lodging, red rock formations, and spiritual energy, Sedona offers the ideal destination for a ladies’ getaway. Your group can immerse in its beauty by exploring area trails, taking a scenic jeep tour, or feeling the power of the vortexes. Then, indulge in luxe spa treatments or combo yoga and hiking tours overlooking serene surroundings.

For where to stay, consider booking a room at full-service Enchantment Resort, where I stayed on my last visit. Tucked into Boyton Canyon, this resort— with its sister property Mii Amo Spa—is ideally removed from the busy main strip of town, surrounding you with gorgeous red rock views that positively glow at sunrise and sunset. Alternatively, stay more central at L’Auberge de Sedona, or a place your group can spread out, like Adobe Grand Villas

As outdoor lovers, on a recent visit, we focused our Sedona activities on hiking by tackling the rewarding Cathedral Rock and Boyton Canyon trails. However, you can find more excellent trails throughout town, especially in Red Rock and Slide Rock State Parks.

Sedona also makes for a great place to shop too, especially at the Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village. Filled with galleries, boutiques, and restaurants, wander this outdoor village to discover unique southwestern-inspired art, pottery, and jewelry made by local artisans.

For meals, book reservations before you go at one of Sedona’s many excellent and in-demand restaurants. Grab dinner and a cocktail at an eatery like the Hudson or Mesa Grill.

24. Seward, Alaska

Closest airport: Anchorage International Airport (ANC)

Best times to visit:

Seward is best experienced in the summer between June and September when the weather is mild, millions of salmon are swimming through Resurrection Bay, and hiking trails through Kenai Fjords National Park are dry and covered in wildflowers. Winter is best avoided in Seward since sightseeing cruises dock for the season, hiking trails become icy and mud-ridden, and rain is plentiful due to the town’s coastal location.

What to do & where to stay:

Seward, Alaska emerges as a unique retreat for ladies’ trips, thanks to its blend of natural beauty, outdoor activities, and incredible food! Groups can enjoy activities like whale-watching tours in the iconic Kenai Fjords National Park, kayaking through Resurrection Bay for an up-close experience with the region’s sea life and glaciers, hiking to the Harding Icefield, and even camping in one of the most untamed areas in the world.

For accommodations, groups can find their haven at the Seward Windsong Lodge, which offers vast, comfortable lodging in rustic cabin-style housing perfect for those wanting to leave the standard hotel room behind. The onsite Resurrection Roadhouse is easily one of my favorite restaurants in the entire state!

Gastronomy in Seward is a delight with The Cookery standing out for its succulent oysters and extensive wine list, while Ray’s Waterfront appeases with its fresh halibut and salmon among other dishes highlighting Alaska’s bounty.

As an adventurous traveler myself, I can’t speak highly enough of Seward and its ability to impress any ladies’ group seeking a unique, rugged, once-in-a-lifetime travel opportunity.

A view over Lunenburg at sunset, taken from over the bay. (Credit: AdventuresomeJo.com)

What to do & where to stay:

In this fantastic girls’ trip, you will start by spending one day in Halifax, before hiring a car and spending the next couple of days discovering the area around Lunenberg. This trip is a combination of picturesque places, good food, and a short hiking escape in Kejimkujik National Park.

Nova Scotia is a very safe destination in Canada, and extremely easy to explore. It has some of the best seafood in North America, produces its own wine, and has stunning nature. The towns dotted around the province are colorful and easy to explore on foot. In Halifax, explore the charming waterfront, where there are plenty of cafes and restaurants. Visit the Maritime Museum and learn about the history of the Titanic and the Halifax Explosion.

Then, on the second day, drive to Lunenburg via Peggy’s Cove and Mahone Bay. Peggy’s Cove is the most photographed lighthouse in Canada, and no wonder, as it’s so beautiful. Mahone Bay and Lunenburg are pretty, colorful towns, perfect for taking plenty of photos.

On the third day, drive to Kejimkujik National Park and spend the day hiking and chilling by the lake. If the weather is warm, you can jump in the water, as it’s very safe to swim. If you are lucky, you might even spot a brown bear. Don’t worry though, as they fear people and will not approach you.

For a place to stay in Halifax, I recommend the Westin Nova Scotian. It is a fantastic historic hotel with large rooms and pretty harbor or city views. And for meals, I recommend Pickford & Black for either lunch or dinner. Their chowder is to die for! In Lunenburg, stop by the Grand Banker for their special Lunenburger burger with a lobster claw on top. The restaurant faces the harbor with views over the water.

What to do & where to stay:

Montreal is one of my favorite cities—it’s like visiting France, without the transatlantic flight. Montreal has something for everyone in your group to love, including Old World charm, delicious cuisine, great museums, and natural beauty.

There are plenty of fabulous activities for your group to choose from. Start with a Montreal food tour to ensure you try all the local favorites (and get insider foodie tips). Then stroll through Vieux Montreal, the city’s historic heart. Here you’ll find the Old Port and don’t miss the majestic Notre-Dame Cathedral with its stunning stained-glass windows.

If the weather is nice, hike up Mont Royal and enjoy the incredible panoramic views of Montreal and the St. Lawrence River. Or, spend an afternoon strolling through the Montreal Botanical Gardens (I especially loved the Japanese and Chinese Gardens).

I loved staying at Le Square Phillips Hôtel & Suites. The location is excellent, and the rooms include fully equipped kitchens—perfect for keeping a stash of snacks and drinks. For a casual night out, visit Les 3 Brasseurs (there are several locations of this popular brewpub). I enjoyed the flammkuchen and poutine, both are local favorite dishes. One of my favorite meals in Montreal was the incredible Portuguese chicken at Ma Poule Mouillée.

What to do & where to stay:

Niagara-on-the-Lake is one of my favorite places to visit in Ontario. It’s a perfect place for a romantic weekend away or an awesome girl’s getaway. Not only is it one of the prettiest towns ever, but it is easy to get to and there is plenty to see and do if you are traveling in a group.

During my 40th birthday girl’s weekend, we chose to tour several of the gorgeous wineries. If you are visiting in the spring or fall, there are food and wine pairing events that you can take part in like “Taste of the Season” or “Sip and Sizzle.” During the winter, the annual Ice Wine Festival is a great option.

We also spent a good part of the day shopping in Niagara-on-the-Lake’s heritage district. There are a ton of quaint little boutiques selling everything from clothing to locally-made jams and cheeses.

And at the end of the day, make sure to book a ghost tour. Niagara-on-the-Lake is said to be one of the most haunted places in Ontario. The walking tour was pretty awesome, and we enjoyed hearing all the creepy tales.

We chose to spend the night at The Pillar and Post Inn & Spa, which is one of Niagara-on-the-Lake’s Vintage hotels. It’s incredible! Not only is the hotel quite posh, but there is both an indoor pool and hot tub, as well as a fully-heated year-round outdoor pool. And let’s not forget about the spa! We pampered ourselves! With everything from massages to body wraps, we had a hard time choosing!

And while each of the Vintage Hotels has a restaurant (the food at each is pretty awesome), my favorite place to eat in Niagara-on-the-Lake is the Angel Inn. This quirky (and very haunted) British pub serves up some of the best fish and chips around.

What to do & where to stay:

Quebec City is the oldest city in North America, and a trip here at any time of year feels like visiting Europe. As a Canadian, I find Quebec City to be one of the best destinations for a girl’s weekend. With its cobbled streets and old town on the St. Lawrence River, Quebec City is picturesque and offers great cultural activities, French-Canadian cuisine, festivals, and nightlife.

Any groups visiting Quebec City should consider doing a food tour, where you can sample delicious French Canadian cuisine, such as poutine, Québécois pea soup, pâté chinois, and other local specialties.

In addition, take some time to explore Old Town while you’re in Quebec City. It is one of the prettiest cities I’ve ever seen. You can do a guided walking tour with a local guide who can teach you the fascinating history of the area, or just walk around aimlessly, taking photos.

Be sure to visit Montmorency Falls, which is 15 minutes outside of Quebec City and accessible by bus, car, or private tour. Montmorency Falls are taller than Niagara Falls, and can be seen from multiple viewpoints: a suspension bridge walking over the falls, as well as cable cars on site.

A good place to stay for groups visiting Quebec City is Hotel Manoir l’Esplanade. It’s an old stone building in Old Town and within walking distance of everything.

For breakfast or lunch, I recommend eating at Cochon Dingue. They have delicious brunch options that are perfect for starting your day. And if you’re craving crepes early in the day, I highly recommend heading to Le Billig Creperie which is a 10-minute walk from Old Town. For a sit-down dinner, there are many fantastic places in Quebec City, such as Restaurant La Buche, and Restaurant Aux Anciens Canadiens.

There are plenty of things to do and see in Toronto. Explore the Distillery District, a pedestrian-only area full of shops, restaurants, bars, and art! Snap a group photo in front of the iconic Toronto sign at Nathan Phillips Square—it’s a must for any Toronto trip and a fun way to remember your girls’ getaway! When you’re feeling peckish, head to the St. Lawrence Market for lunch or picnic supplies. Then, take in the incredible views from the top of the CN Tower.

On our last girls’ trip, we stayed at the Bisha Hotel Toronto. We loved the hotel’s stylish rooms and rooftop pool with stunning city views. Its location in the Entertainment District is perfect for the group’s nightlife.

When it comes to dining, I highly recommend Bar Raval, a trendy tapas bar in the heart of the Entertainment District. Enjoy a variety of delicious Spanish and Catalan small plates, sip on sangria, and soak up the lively atmosphere with your besties. For a glamorous evening, visit Byblos, a rooftop restaurant offering fantastic city views, live music, and mouthwatering Mediterranean cuisine.

What to do & where to stay:

Victoria is a historic and charming city which makes a fantastic destination for a ladies’ trip, as most of the city’s activities are best experienced with friends. Plus, on top of seeing the key attractions, like the Parliament Buildings, Inner Harbour, and Butchart Gardens, Victoria has a range of thrilling outdoor activities that are safe and most fun to do as part of a group.

In particular, it’s one of the best places in Canada for whale watching and kayaking or stand-up paddle boarding. The city is within easy reach of epic hiking trails with old-growth rainforests, stunning viewpoints, and secluded beaches, including the famous Juan de Fuca and West Coast Trail multi-day hikes, for a truly memorable bonding experience.

Aside from the city’s outdoor adventures, some of my favorite group activities in Victoria are traditional high tea at the iconic Fairmont Empress, exploring Fisherman’s Wharf and indulging in the freshest seafood at Barb’s Fish & Chips, and visiting some of the province’s best brewpubs on the BC Ale Trail.

Plus, Victoria is within proximity of the Cowichan Valley, home to some of Canada’s best wineries and artisanal food producers, and makes for an excellent day trip from the city!

As for where to stay, for groups, I recommend the James Bay Inn. This charming heritage hotel is within walking distance of the city’s key attractions, has an onsite pub and restaurant, and can accommodate groups in family rooms, suites, or even a private cottage.

Closest airport: Vancouver International Airport (YVR)

Best times to visit:

The shopping, spas, restaurants, and museums are great at any time of year, but the best times to visit are winter for skiing and snow activities and summer for hiking, lake time, and mountain biking.

What to do & where to stay:

Whistler makes a great ladies’ getaway for adventurous friends since it has a variety of outdoor activities ranging from relaxing to extreme. In the winter, you can ski, but you can be a little more laid back by snowshoeing at Lost Lake or ice skating on the frozen pond in Olympic Plaza.

There are also tons of things to do in Whistler in the summer. Ride the Peak 2 Peak Gondola for incredible views. While you’re up in the mountains, check out the spectacular hikes. The High Note Trail is my favorite. Or plan a chill day at Alta Lake to go swimming, canoeing, and paddleboarding.

Some of the best Whistler attractions are open year-round. Don’t miss the tranquil outdoor hot pools and cold plunge pools at Scandinave Spa. If you want to connect with local Indigenous culture, visit the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre. And if you want to blow off some steam, you can’t go wrong at Forged Axe Throwing.

If you’re looking for a unique bar experience, head to the Ketel One Ice Room. Everything inside is made of ice and they have parkas to wear so you won’t freeze. And if you love brunch, head to The Den at Nita Lake Lodge. You can enjoy lake views from the patio while you enjoy their Sunday brunch buffet or bottomless eggs Benny the rest of the week.

For groups, I recommend getting a suite at the Sundial Hotel. It’s in the heart of Whistler Village so it is within walking distance to almost everything. The best part? Some suites come with a private hot tub!

San Jose Del Cabo is a popular destination with North American travelers who come here to catch the sun and enjoy water sports. The best time to avoid crowds in Cabo and save money is between mid-April and May, as well as November before the high season begins.

What to do & where to stay:

If you are looking for a fun girls’ getaway in North America, look no further than Cabo San Lucas, a popular resort famous for its incredible beaches, luxurious resorts, and outdoor activities. It is an ideal destination for groups because of fun activities, a good variety of accommodations, and top-notch restaurants that offer some of the best seafood in Mexico.

Located along the Southern tip of Baja California, Cabo San Lucas is a gateway to Baja California Sur and popular destinations like Todos Santos and La Paz. All you need to do is rent a car or join a guided tour if you want a quick escape from Cabo.

The best activities in Cabo for a girl’s trip are snorkeling, sunset sailing, and zip-lining. Additionally, the area offers plenty of free activities like sunbathing and hiking.

For a mid-market hotel closer to town, try the Marisol Boutique Hotel. A stay here offers proximity to restaurants your group will love, like farm-to-table dining in beautiful settings at Los Tamarindos and Acre at the Acre Resort. If your group is looking for a luxe getaway, consider splurging for a stay at the Four Seasons Resort Los Cabos. Although it is an hour’s drive to the east, this secluded resort will provide all the coastal serenity and rest, relaxation, and indulgence your group seeks.

What to do & where to stay:

With so much to do and see, Mexico City is a wonderful spot for a ladies’ group trip. Since Mexico City’s airport is the busiest and largest in Latin America, it is easy to get a direct flight from almost anywhere. It is also a budget-friendly destination where you can still enjoy luxury experiences, which makes it great for groups with a variety of income levels.

The number one thing you have to do is ride a tranjera (a colorful traditional boat)# down the Floating Gardens of Xochimilco in the southern part of the city. You can bring your food and drinks, or buy some from the floating vendors, and enjoy the scenery for an hour, or several, while your captain pushes your tranjera through the canals.

Some other wonderful things to do in Mexico City as a group include visiting the iconic Frida Kahlo museum, wandering through the trendy Roma Norte neighborhood, and visiting some of the rooftop bars and other spots with the best views in Mexico City

You can’t miss churros from Churreria El Moro’s Mexico City’s most iconic churreria with several locations around the city. Also considering trying to find the hidden speakeasies of Zona Rosa.

I recommend staying at Casa Mannach. It is a boutique hotel in a gorgeously designed house in the heart of Condesa.

What to do & where to stay:

For anyone who loves incredible cuisine, culture, and idyllic cobblestoned streets, visiting Oaxaca is a must. I’ve been to Oaxaca City twice but it only took a day for me to realize that it would become one of my favorite cities in the world. It is the perfect destination for a group of friends as there are several activities, a walkable historic district, safe for females, rooftop bars, and vibrant streets for fun photos. Staying at Hotel Oaxaca Real is ideal for groups as it is centrally located in the historic district and steps from most attractions and restaurants.

A huge incentive to travel to Oaxaca is for the food which has the most unique ingredients and styles of dishes from anywhere else, commonly referred to as the “gastronomic capital of the world”.
