A Conversation with Juli Hall at Celebrate & Explore

Every Friday, I interview a different traveler for my Instagram and Facebook pages. I love following along and sharing their journeys. Find a recap below from my Q&A with Juli Hall of Celebrate & Explore.

About Juli

Juli has never been someone who stays on the same path. She lives for change, adventure and challenge. Which might explain why she  loves to travel so much.

Her most recent transition was from entrepreneur to blogger. She closed her wedding venue of five years to enjoy more time with her older teens before they head to college and to share her travels.

What do you love most about traveling?

For me, traveling gets me out of my comfort zone and encourages me to try new things. My family is always up for an adventure and traveling pushes me to say yes to new challenges and experiences. If I don’t say yes, I miss out on experiences with them and I refuse to do that.

Traveling on my own helps remind me that I still have that independent, curious and brave person inside me. It also gives me time to practice photography without being rushed!

My favorite part of traveling is to embrace curiosity and learn more about my new surroundings and people I meet.

As a family traveler, what are your top Tips For Managing a Group Dynamic?

We’ve been traveling with our teens extensively the last few years and we’ve learned to make a trip successful a few things are necessary:

  1. Everyone contributes suggestions for locations, activities and restaurants. That way no one feels left out or resentful for having to do all the planning.
  2. Be respectful and patient with each other. Giving support or encouragement to someone as they experience something new for the first time can often turn the situation around. Listening rather than pushing can go a long way.
  3. Find activities that offer balance to the trip; high energy, challenge, culture and downtime can create a well-rounded experience.

What are your favorite souvenirs?

Personally, I love to find jewelry from local artisans. I aim for pieces that can be worn daily and always remind me of our travels. For the family, we always try to find an ornament. Our Christmas tree is quickly becoming a collection of all our adventures together.
